NOL Card Balance History
NOL card balance history is available in full only on a card that carries your name. A registered or Blue card gets an RTA account statement covering the last month of trips and top ups, and registration of a Silver or Gold card costs AED 30. An anonymous card shows you the last few transactions stored on its chip and nothing more.
What a NOL card actually records
A NOL card is a stored value chip, not an online account. The balance lives on the card itself, which is why a reader has to touch it to tell you anything, and why the chip keeps only a short run of recent transactions rather than a full ledger.
RTA holds the longer record on its side, but only for cards tied to a person. Register a Silver or Gold card for AED 30, or buy a Blue Personal card at AED 70, and your RTA account lists a month of activity: each fare, each top up and each retail payment, with the date and the amount.
The distinction matters beyond curiosity. That same registration is what protects the balance if the card is lost, lifts the ceiling from AED 1,000 to AED 5,000 and allows a refund. History is one benefit of four. The history itself is the least valuable of them, and the one people go looking for first. Each entry carries its station name, so a week of history reads like a map of Dubai, Union to DIFC to Mall of the Emirates.

Four ways to see the history
The RTA account on rta.ae is the fullest view and the only one that works without the card in your hand. Sign in, open the card under your profile and the statement covers the past month. It is the route to use for an expense claim or for working out where a balance went.
The NOL Pay app is the fastest. Hold the card to the back of an NFC phone and the app returns the balance with the transactions written on the chip, which is enough to see this morning's fare and last night's top up. The app also tops up from AED 5 and reads any card, registered or not.
A ticket office at any metro station is the low tech version and the one that solves arguments. Staff read the card on a counter reader and can tell you what came off it recently, which helps when a top up you paid for online has not appeared. RTA's call centre on 800 9090 handles the same questions for a registered card, since the agent can see the account behind it.
The RTA Dubai app repeats the account view on a phone, and a ticket office or ticket vending machine will read the card across the counter. None of these four will produce a statement older than the month RTA keeps for registered cards.

Why an anonymous card has no statement
An anonymous Silver or Gold card is deliberately not linked to anyone. RTA cannot show you a history for it because RTA does not know it is yours, and that is the same reason a lost anonymous card cannot be refunded or replaced.
Registration fixes all of it at once for AED 30: the statement appears, the balance becomes recoverable, the maximum rises to AED 5,000 and 30, 90 and 365 day passes become loadable where an anonymous card was limited to the 7 day one. The registration steps are set out here.
There is a practical reason to do it early rather than after a problem. RTA links the history to the card from the moment it is registered, so the trips you took last month on the same piece of plastic do not appear retrospectively. A card registered today starts its statement today.
One caveat worth knowing before you register: RTA allows up to 5 personal or registered cards per person, and only 1 active concession card among them.

How to read the entries
Fares appear as deductions sized by zone, so a AED 3 line is a trip inside one zone and AED 7.50 is a trip across more than two. A Gold card doubles those numbers on metro and tram. A pair of legs taken within 30 minutes of each other appears as one charge, not two, because RTA counts a transfer as a continuation of the same journey.
Top ups are the entries that confuse people. Credit bought by tag ID on a website or in a bank app is dated when it lands on the card, not when you paid for it, and that gap runs from 45 minutes to 4 hours. The pending credit rules are explained in the recharge guide.
Retail and parking payments sit in the same list as fares. A shop purchase can be up to AED 200, so an unexplained drop in the balance is often a coffee rather than a fare.
A travel pass shows up differently again. Trips covered by a pass are recorded without a fare against them, and only journeys outside the zones the pass covers appear as deductions, at AED 3 to AED 7.50 on a Silver card. That is the quickest way to see the pass is doing its job.

When you only need the balance
Most searches for a history are really a search for one number. RTA's own balance widget answers that from the 10 digit tag ID printed on the back of the card, with no login and no card reader, and it is the only official way to check without the card to hand.
The gate display gives you the same figure the moment you tap, and a ticket machine shows it before you top up. Keep it above the AED 7.50 a gate demands and the history stops being urgent. A machine at the station will also print or display the figure before a top up, which settles most disputes on the spot.
Our balance checker is a shortcut to that official form rather than a copy of it. The tag ID you type stays in your browser, because RTA's page cannot be prefilled from outside, so the last step always happens on rta.ae.

What no site can show you
No third party site can pull a NOL history or a balance. RTA's balance form sits behind an invisible reCAPTCHA and cannot be embedded, prefilled or automated, so any page claiming to display your transactions after you type a tag ID is either guessing or collecting the number for its own reasons.
The honest limit on the official route is the month. RTA keeps a rolling month of activity for registered cards, so an expense claim from last quarter is already gone. Export or screenshot anything you will need later.

Frequently asked questions
Can I see the history of an anonymous NOL card?
Only the handful of transactions stored on the chip, read at a ticket machine, a ticket office or in NOL Pay. RTA keeps no account level record for a card that is not registered, and registration costs AED 30.
How far back does NOL card history go?
RTA's account statement covers the last month for registered and Blue cards. The chip itself holds only a short run of recent entries, so anything older has to be saved at the time.
Can I check my NOL history online without the card?
Yes on a registered or Blue card, through your RTA account or the RTA Dubai app. With an anonymous card, all you can get online is the balance, looked up by the 10 digit tag ID.
Why does my balance drop with no trip recorded?
Retail purchases and parking come out of the same credit as fares, up to AED 200 per shop transaction. An open journey left without a tap out is the other common cause.
Does NOL Pay show trip history on any card?
It shows what the chip stores on any card you can physically tap, registered or not. The month long statement stays behind the RTA account, which needs a card in your name.
Does the history show which stations I used?
The RTA statement is built around the transaction, the date and the amount rather than a route map. A AED 5 charge tells you the trip crossed two zones, which is usually enough to identify it.
